MISSION STATEMENT: The Cpl. Brad Squires Memorial Fund was founded to honor and memorialize our son and brother, Brad Squires, who was killed in action on June 9, 2005 in Iraq, and all the Ohio Service members that, like Brad, also unselfishly gave their lives in Iraq protecting our freedom in the service of our Country. The fund also contributes to positive community activities that impact on the lives of its residents in a way that reflects the lasting mark Brad and his fellow Ohio Service members made on our lives, on their communities and throughout the world. STRATEGIC PLAN: Short-term Objectives (< 2 years): Improve funds financial stability, expand fund’s visibility, identify and prioritize opportunities to impact community, and continue to honor and memorialize our Fallen Heroes. Goals: a. Sustain 2-4 Youth Baseball Sponsorships. Fund will sponsor six teams boys baseball or girls softball in five cities in 2009 ( Berea, Middleburg Heights, Brook Park, Columbia Station and Willoughby b. Honor and memorialize those Ohioans that lost their lives in Iraq in 2007 & 2008 with bronze plate at Memorial Plaza.Plans and fundraising are ongoing to install 2007 and 2008 memorial in 2009. c. Continued maintenance of Memorial Plaza. Received donation for mulch and perennial flowers and planted bulbs last year. Researching contractors to mow grass and trim memorial plaza. d. Secure two (2) $5,000 corporate sponsors. None yet. Meeting with various businesses to secure sponsorship. Will send letters near end of 2009 for 2010 sponsorships.
Goals: a. Increase the number of youth team sponsorships to ten (10) by year 5. Up to six teams in 2009 in just two years. b. Honor and memorialize those Ohioans that lose their lives in Iraq during this timeframe with bronze plate at Memorial Plaza.\ c. Continued maintenance of Memorial Plaza. d. Secure two (2) $5,000 additional corporate sponsors by year 5. e. Begin two (2) $1000 athletic scholarship funds at local high schools. Created two $500 scholarships---one at Berea and Midpark High Schools. f. Begin to set aside funds for Memorial Park and Pavilion. g. Increase fundraising by at least $2,500/year.

Honor and memorialize those Ohioans that lose their lives in Iraq during this timeframe with bronze plate at Memorial Plaza. d. Continued maintenance of Memorial Plaza. e. Increase value and number of athletic and academic scholarship funds at local schools. f. Sponsor construction of a Memorial Park with pavilion that honors the memory of all Ohioans from all wars that gave their lives protecting our freedom in the service of our Country. g.
